Overview of branch/section operations:

E-academe researches and disseminates information on new and emerging technologies that support the instructional and administrative operations of the public school system. The section provides technical consultation in the implementation of new technologies. It also coordinates and emerging technologies. Services to schools and offices

Provides technical consultation.
1. Plans improvements to statewide and local information processing and communication systems.
2. Plans and develops pilot projects which test and evaluate the applicability and feasibility of new information and telecommunication technologies.
3. Develops policies, procedures, and standards relating to the use of statewide information processing and communication systems; the purchase, use and maintenance of end-user hardware and software; and user training.
4. Assists schools and offices in planning, developing, and evaluating statewide instructional and administrative electronic information and communication services.
Promotes research.
1. Applies new technologies for information processing and communication for the public school system.
2. Initiates experimental projects that test prototypes of advanced technology products or applications in administrative or instructional operations.
3. Assesses current and projected use of hardware (computer, communication and office automation) and software products, recommending bulk purchasing as appropriate to achieve cost savings and timely procurement.
4. Reviews and evaluates development of new technologies and applications of existing educational technologies.
